Stateville Status Requires Verification
Stateville Correctional Center is an IDOC correctional campus in the Crest Hill and Joliet area. Recent closure and depopulation activity makes a fixed operational description risky. The main institution, Northern Reception and Classification Center, and other campus units must be treated as distinct. A historical reference to “Stateville” does not establish where a person is held now.
Search the person’s IDOC number and read the live Parent Institution, Offender Status, and Location fields together. An old court order, news item, letter, or booking history may accurately show an earlier Stateville connection while the individual has since moved. Current IDOC data and a direct agency response should control any present-tense claim.
Do not infer release from Stateville depopulation news. An individual may have transferred to another IDOC institution or campus unit.
The Northern Reception and Classification Center has its own facility page because intake transfers are especially common there. Do not combine an NRC location with the Stateville main-facility status merely because IDOC has described Stateville as NRC’s parent institution.
Confirm a Stateville Release
Use the IDOC Individual in Custody Search, not the Will County Sheriff roster. Search by IDOC number when available. Otherwise use last name or birth date, then compare the result’s photograph, descriptors, county and offense data, and sentencing counts. A common name match without those checks is not enough.

A new institution means transfer, not release. A community-supervision status plus Last Paroled Date can support release from physical prison custody. Stateville Release Date Fields
IDOC does not provide one universal field called a Stateville release date. Projected Parole Date forecasts when prison custody may give way to parole or mandatory supervised release. Last Paroled Date records a past parole or MSR event. Projected Discharge Date forecasts when the full sentence and supervision obligations may end.

Sentence credit, disciplinary action, corrected custody credit, amended court data, consecutive counts, and PRB action can move a projection. A warrant or detainer can also change the path after IDOC processing. Save the IDOC number and the date of each check, then reconfirm close to any forecast. Stateville Transfer or Community Release
Three outcomes must remain separate. First, an internal transfer keeps the person in IDOC custody at a different prison. Second, parole or MSR moves the person out of prison while state supervision continues. Third, final discharge ends the complete correctional sentence and supervision. None of those outcomes is proved by the Stateville name disappearing from a location field.

Parole is conditional release under the law applicable to the sentence. Most modern determinate Illinois sentences use mandatory supervised release instead. PRB makes decisions involving old-law and youthful parole, revocation, terms, and early or final discharge. IDOC’s Parole Division performs field supervision. Stateville Records and Contacts
IDOC is the record custodian for a Stateville prison episode. Identify the name and IDOC number and request existing admission, location, transfer, parole or MSR, and final-discharge dates. Use 800-666-6744 for IDOC parole and community-supervision routing. Provide the name and IDOC number so the correct unit can be identified. No dependable current public Will County parole-office street address was verified. For PRB proceedings, use the Board’s schedules, results, registry, or early/final discharge channel that matches the event.
A Will County Sheriff FOIA request is not the route for a Stateville-only imprisonment. The Sheriff may hold a separate county booking that precedes transfer, but that record ends at county release or transfer. Geography does not change record ownership.
Stateville Final Discharge Search
IDOC’s own search warns that a person may be absent after completing sentence or parole. “Not found” can also result from spelling, a different name, county custody, another state, or search error. It cannot be converted into a Stateville release statement.
When the public profile has vanished, call or write IDOC. Request the admission, transfer, Last Paroled, supervision, and final-discharge dates held by the agency. Check PRB’s early/final discharge information when Board action applies. The sentencing court record can establish the legal sentence and later orders, though it may not state the exact day prison processing ended.

Stateville Alerts and Photos
Illinois VINE can provide IDOC custody-change notifications. Find the correct person while the record is active, register through an offered phone, text, email, or app channel, and retain the identifying number. A transfer alert is not a community release. A release alert may still precede or follow final physical processing, so verify it with IDOC.
IDOC profiles may display front and side photographs. Images help distinguish people with similar names, but they do not prove current location, release, or discharge. A finally discharged profile may disappear. Request the official record rather than relying on a saved image as proof of present status.
No verified public Stateville release-time schedule, exit door, waiting area, or transportation policy was found in the research. Do not arrange a pickup from the historical campus name alone. Ask IDOC which institution currently controls the person and obtain current directions from that institution.
Stateville Federal Custody Limits
Stateville is not a BOP prison or civil ICE facility. No operating federal prison or civil ICE detention center was confirmed in Will County. Still, release from IDOC does not rule out every other authority. A warrant, federal judgment, or another jurisdiction’s process can lead to a transfer.
If a receiving agency is recorded, use that agency’s official locator and court record. BOP status concerns federal prison custody. ICE ODLS has a limited current and recent-release window. Neither should replace the IDOC transfer or discharge record for the Stateville episode.
